Unseen Retail Fit-Out

A full interior fit-out for Unseen, a retail clothing boutique on Kloof Street, Cape Town, taken from a bare shell to a fully trading store. The project centred on the design and construction of statement drywall elements throughout, including a multi-level bulkhead ceiling system with integrated recessed downlights and LED cove lighting, custom drywall showcase shelving, arched changing rooms, and a sculptural architectural checkout counter. The result is a warm, considered retail environment that reflects the brand's identity with quiet confidence.

The build began in an empty shell, with our team responsible for all drywall framing, boarding, and finishing from the ground up. The ceiling was the defining feature of the space, constructed as a stepped drywall bulkhead system running the full length of the store, with recessed downlights set throughout and LED strip cove lighting integrated along the perimeter to create a warm, layered glow. Arched drywall openings were constructed and finished to house the changing rooms, adding an architectural softness to the back of the store. Custom drywall shelving was built and skimmed along the side walls to provide structured product display areas. The checkout counter was crafted as a bespoke architectural piece, skimmed smooth and finished to sit as a design statement within the space. All surfaces were finished with a consistent skim and paint throughout.

The transformation from bare interior to finished boutique demonstrated the full scope of what our team delivers on a commercial fit-out. The drywall bulkhead ceiling system became the standout feature of the space, drawing the eye immediately upon entry and setting the tone for the entire interior. Unseen opened to a store that felt considered, polished, and entirely aligned with the brand, with every structural and decorative element built and finished by our team.
